The Nature of Things

I think we've earned a break from the cares of the world, don't you? And what better break can we take than viewing a cat video. Well, not just any cat video - a "Simon's Cat" video. Anyone who lives with cats must be familiar with crazy time, that time in the day when the cats get absolutely manic and run around like things possessed. Simon has certainly experienced it with his cat. Enjoy.

Is your week dragging? Do you need a chuckle? Did the Chewbacca Mom not do it for you? Maybe this will make you smile.

It's been another irritating, frustrating, and sad week on many levels and I need a laugh. We haven't visited Simon's Cat for quite a while. Let's see what he's up to. He's always good for a chuckle. Poor Simon's Cat. The world is ever against him. But in my own backyard, we finally managed to get the last feral kitten , Bootsie, into the cage this morning to take her to the vet to be spayed and vaccinated. Let's hope she doesn't come home with one of those Elizabethan collars! I know it's scary, Bootsie, but, believe me, it is for your own good. PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR CATS! THE WORLD HAS TOO MANY UNWANTED FERAL CATS. THEY DO UNTOLD DAMAGE TO WILDLIFE EVERY YEAR.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Simon's Cat's house. And what's on the top of Santa's list for all good little cats? And maybe even some not so good? Catnip, of course!

Poor Simon's Cat. All he wants is a nap, but the world conspires against him. I know just how he feels.

Simon is so proud of his new sofa. Simon's Cat will soon cure him of that!

The world of humans has had a rather hellacious month of July. With the people of the Middle East doing their best to kill each other off and wipe the planet clean of anyone who sees things differently from them; with Russia and its minions in the eastern part of Ukraine shooting down civilian airliners and then keeping away investigators and those who simply want to recover the human remains for two long weeks while those remains are exposed to the elements; with the haters in our own country converging on our southern border with assault rifles in hand in order to repel unarmed children who want nothing more than to turn themselves in to the Border Patrol and seek protection... All in all, it was a month, we would be happy to forget. So, let's do that for a couple of minutes. It's August, a new month with a clean slate. Let's start it off with a visit to the world of Simon's Cat. We haven't checked on that ever-hungry feline lately. I wonder what he's up to th...

'Tis the season. Thanksgiving is past. Time to get the house decorated for the year-end holidays and that, of course, means a tree. That can be a challenge though if you have a Simon's Cat in the house.

The title of the video says "Simon's Cat," but it could just as accurately say "Dorothy's Cat." Yes, I admit it. I have one of these. His name is Beau and he is utterly incorrigible. Why, oh why do Simon and I put up with this?

What do you suppose Simon's Cat and his friend The Kitten are up to? Just about as I expected. When cats are involved, there is always a nap in the picture.

Have you read today's headlines? The stock market is crashing. The economic recovery is stalling. Syria is slaughtering its own citizens and no one seems capable of stopping them. The planet is heating up. The politicians are up to their usual a**holery. My favorite baseball team has lost six games in a row!  And to top it off, there's only one more episode of Game of Thrones on HBO and how the heck are they going to squeeze all the remaining action of the book into one episode ? What can offer us relief from this unremitting avalanche of bad, bad news? It's time to deploy the big guns. Yes, time for another entry of "Simon's Cat." Happy weekend!

It's going to be a busy week with not much time for blogging but here's something from Simon's Cat to wish you happy holidays and maybe give you a chuckle. As for my own little angelic kittens, they would never climb the Christmas tree and send ornaments and needles crashing to the floor or play soccer up and down the hall with said ornaments or knock the shepherd in the Nativity scene to the floor, smashing him into a hundred pieces. Oh, no, they'd never do anything like that! In fact, butter wouldn't melt in their little mouths as they wait for their visit from Santa Claws. Happy holidays to all.
